Amazon has wrapped up another edition of its October Prime Day sale, Big Deal Days. This year, Amazon reported Big Deal Days was its biggest October sales event ever. While it was a record event for Amazon, CivicScience’s exclusive What We’re Seeing: Big Deal Days Unboxed webinar revealed the noteworthy trends below the surface.

What shoppers spent and what they bought showcased just a couple of the key differences from Amazon sales of prior years. One important finding highlights how consumer spending is shifting, with a greater percentage spending under $100 on Big Deal Days this year. And although shoppers reported spending less on average, they also reported purchasing more home goods, apparel, and electronics this year. The beauty category, an area CivicScience closely monitors, also showed a strong increase (+20%) over last year’s sale, likely aided by parental acceptance of skincare and beauty products for their Gen Alpha children.
